Brianne has a blog???

So yeah, I started this blog a while ago with big hopes and dreams for it. The fact that I had no idea how to work it overwhelmed me so I quit. Now I feel like I have a bit of a handle on the whole blog world, so I am going to give it another try. I have 5 readers apparently which is awesome seeing as I haven't posted in almost 2 years. Props to you guys for sticking around. I will try to make it worth it!

Can't let her out of my sight for a second!

At 18 months old Grace is in full 2 year old mode. We are having the temper tantrums, the picky eating, the "NO" response to everything, she is even starting to bite. Lovely. Well, today was going really good, she took a nice 3 hour morning nap and when she woke up, Oliver was sleeping so her and I got some one on one play time. Well, Oliver woke up and I was sitting on the couch nursing him while Grace continued to play and sing (she is always singing). She often runs in and out of the kitchen and sometimes comes back out with a box of cereal or tupperware. There is not much she can get into in there other than pots and pans. That is until today. She had been in there for a couple minutes and things got quiet. I called her and she didn't answer. All of a sudden I remembered that I had baked cookies earlier and they were cooling on the kitchen table. I jumped up (well as quickly as you can "jump" up while nursing a baby) I left Oliver on the couch and ran into the kitchen to find this:


She was sitting there with 3 cookies, swinging her legs, just having a good time. As I came closer she quickly starting taking a bite from each of the cookies as fast as she could.



She then tried the "if I don't look at mom, maybe she won't take away my cookies".

I knew that there was going to be a fit when I took them away. Remembering advice I have gotten about choosing your battles, I decided to let her keep one cookie. I put her in her high chair, gave her some grapes and milk and decided that was lunch. It was just not worth fighting over. Mommy lesson learned for the day: it is no longer safe to leave cookies on the table. :)

Welcome Oliver!

Oliver Richard Haust was born on Thursday October 1st. He weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce and was 20 inches long. His middle name (Richard) is after Jericho's dad and grandpa. We are truly blessed to have our little boy! :)
